On June 30, 2021 the North Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee voted in approval of SB 711 (North Carolina Compassionate Care Act)! This was a historic moment for the state as it goes in the direction of cannabis reform. SB 711 cleared the first of many steps in gaining support and becoming a law!

More Progress for Medical Marijuana in North Carolina!
Just a week ago the NC Senate Judiciary Committee heard from Senator Rabon about SB 711 and his support for legalizing medical marijuana. This bill would give qualifying patients legal access to medical marijuana to help them find relief from the pain they are experiencing.
In addition to Senator Rabon, this bill is supported by Sen. Michael Lee, R-Brunswick, R-New Hanover, Sen. Paul Lowe, D- Forsyth, and two additional Cape Fear Republicans. This is a huge deal because cannabis reform has never had this much support in the past!
With the overwhelming support that this bill has received, things seem to be moving quickly! SB 711 was approved to move on to the next 3 committees for approval: finance, healthcare, then lastly rules and operations.
There are still many steps to take in order to turn this bill into a law, but things are moving in the right direction.
